The mastermind who planned and executed the Uri Surgical Strike

Lieutenant General Satish Dua is one of India’s most respected military leaders, with over four decades of distinguished service in the Indian Army. He is widely recognized as the Corps Commander who planned and executed the historic 2016 Uri Surgical Strikes in Kashmir. A counter-terrorism specialist, he spent much of his career in frontline operational leadership, particularly in Jammu & Kashmir, commanding high-stakes missions in complex environments.

He later served as Chief of Integrated Defence Staff, coordinating strategic activities across India’s Army, Navy, and Air Force. He also steered the creation of India’s National War Memorial at India Gate, New Delhi. He has been awarded some of the nation’s highest honours, including the Param Vishisht Seva Medal, Uttam Yudh Seva Medal, Sena Medal, and Vishisht Seva Medal.

After four decades of distinguished service to the nation, he now writes and speaks on matters of National defence and strategy in military and civil establishments, as well as think tanks and media. He has authored three books about soldiers’ valour from his firsthand experiences.
