Maroof Raza is the Consulting Editor (for Strategic Affairs) of TIMES NOW, a leading Indian television channel. He also anchors a weekly TV show , ‘Latitude’ on Times Now, on Geo-Politics. Additionally he writes a regular column in THE WEEK, titled ‘Hawk-Eye’. His essays have been published in most journals on Indian security and in editorial pages of all leading English newspapers in India, as also in some Hindi newspapers. He is also the General Editor of a Military Affairs series of Har Anand Publications since 2001, in which over twelve books have been published. He is the editor-at-large of Fauji India, and he also publishes a monthly magazine ‘Salute’.

Educated in India (at the Mayo College, Ajmer and St. Stephen’s College, Delhi), and subsequently in England (at King’s College, London and at Cambridge University); Maroof was commissioned into the Indian Army in 1980. He served in the Grenadiers and the Mechanised Infantry Regiments, and as an instructor at the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun. He resigned his commission as a Major in 1993. In 1994, he was awarded the Times of India Fellowship, and has been a Visiting Fellow at the Centre for Policy Research, Delhi, the Henry L. Stimson Centre, Washington and the War Studies Department of King’s College, London. He was a Visiting Professor at Middlesex University in London. Currently, he is Mentor of Security Watch India, a not for profit initiative, that addresses issues on India’s internal (homeland) security.
