Srivani was born on 3 July 1987 in Nandampudi Village of East Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh. She was 7 years old when she started learning veena under guidance of Smt. Pichika Seeta Maha Lakshmi. She came into limelight when Bollywood music director Shankar Mahadevan shared her video on his official twitter account.

In an interview, Srivani mentioned that she drew inspiration from the comments of children who had visited her home and said there was no one playing the veena in this generation, implying that it was a ‘dirty’ instrument.

Srivani gained considerable popularity when she posted her first video on Facebook. Her skill on the veena drew admiration and praise from many. Prior to that, she had been employed in numerous Telugu TV channels as an anchor, eventually earning the Best Anchor award in her field
