Sunita Bhuyan a violinist of the Hindustani style is the recipient of the Indira Gandhi Priyadarshini award for Music, Sunita has undergone her initial training from her mother Minoti Khaund, eminent violinist and disciple of Pt. V.G. Jog. The mother daughter duo have performed Jugalbandis (duets) all over the country and abroad to a variety of audiences.

Sunita has attained a master’s degree in Hindustani Music with a distinction, and has also studied advanced music under the apprenticeship of violin maestro Padma bibhushan Late Pt V.G. Jog. Along with pure classical music she has been performing a wide range of light music melodies, experimenting with jazz, folk and fusion to reach out to a diverse spectrum of audiences. “Bharat Darshan, a journey of Indian folk music and “Raagas to Bollywood” are some of her offerings to demonstrate the nuances of Indian music. Her recent album “Bihu Strings” under the Times Music label explores the prevalence of classical and world music elements in north eastern folk music.
Sunita has performed solos and duets with her mother in prestigious platforms in India and abroad like India International Center, Delhi, NCPA Mumbai, Nehru Centre London, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Rabindra Natya Mandir Mumbai, India Habitat Centre, IIT Fest and Shankardev Kalakshetra Assam, Women’s Leadership Forum Kuala Lumpur, HR leaders Forum Singapore, New York, New Jersey, Chicago, Boston, Phoenix, Nasville, Sri Lanka, Bandra Fest Mumbai, Kala Ghoda Fest Mumbai .

Her academic qualification includes an MBA in Human Resources and she has around 18 years of experience in the corporate world as a training and wellness specialist. She uses music as a tool for workshops on holistic development for the corporate world as well as academic and social groups. She is currently a Wellness Consultant for Syntel Incorporated. Some of the institutions/forums that have used her interventions are Marcus Evans, Indian Merchants Chambers, Gartner Leadership Forum NY, Royal Group of Institutions, Indian Institute of Technology, HR college of Arts and Commerce, American School of Mumbai, TED Conferences. THiNK Conference, South Asian Women’s Fund etc, L&OD roundtable, World HRD Congress. Some of the corporate that she has worked for are RBS, AMEX, L &T, State Street bank, FEDEX, ESSAR etc

Sunita is the brand ambassador of South Asian women’s Fund and the icon for the Election Comission, India. She pursues her passion for spreading the benefits of music amongst children and cancer patients both from the mainstream and underprivileged world and is associated with the Don Bosco Street Shelter, ADAPT (Spastics society), S’Prayas and Cancer Patients Association having covered more than 7000 children and adults so far through her workshops.
